Rotan Badak (Rhino rattan) is a kind of rattan which grows rapidly. It can be harvested 4-5 years after grown. Just like weed, they grow about 100 trees on each group.
Rotan badak can be found easily at almost all part of Indonesian’s island. In Borneo this rattan is growing along the riverside to the mountain, swampy area is just nice for them to grow quickly.
This rattan has the most flexible and strongest character in the small diameter rattan family, that’s why people call them “RHINO RATTAN”
Some Borneo people cultivate this rattan on their garden because they don’t have many choices with the ground texture. To eliminate their worry about danger of fire & also due to its fast-growing characteristic, this rattan should be harvested frequently, the more often they’re cut the faster they grow.
